At 7 that same evening [September 11], our American Legion participated in another moving ceremony. Hank Berchak invited Venture Scout Crew 378 to the post home to participate in a flag-folding rite. This is a skill the Scouts must master to correctly perform a formal flag burning ceremony. American flags are burned when they become to old or tattered or have touched the ground. A special folding ceremony ceremony is performed in order the prepare the flag for its proper disposed.

Berchak narrated the ritual as flags of al sizes were prepared. In addition to Berchak, Legionaries participating were Warren Seibert and Thomas Norton. Scouts from Venture Crew 378 were April Winsborrow and Brooks Branham.
