About Crew 378 - Publications


I. Attendance

A. Secretary takes roll at every meeting, campout, fundraiser, and special event.
B. Unnecessary absenteeism will not be tolerated, may result in suspension of activities.
C. Meetings are every other Sunday at Gretna United Methodist Church (unless otherwise noted).
D. Campouts are roughly every 2 months and act as a meeting.
E. Dress in Polo Crew Shirt.

II. Dues*

*A. $5.00 a month.
*B. Due at the beginning of each month.
*C. All new crew members waive first month of dues.
D. Dues must be paid in full before campout in order to attend.

III. Campouts

A. Criteria to Attend:

1. All dues must be paid to date.
2. Any campout fees must be paid.3. Permission slip must be turned in to the crew prior to the campout.

a. Needed for the Crew Member¹s health and insurance reasons.
b. Needed for all crew functions outside of regular crew meetings.
c. Needed regardless if parent(s) attends the outing.
d. If crew member is over the age of 21, a permission slip is not necessary.

4. The Crew Member need not attend in order for the parent to attend. (Parents are always welcome.)
5. No non-crew member siblings or pets.
6. Guests are welcome.

a. Pay all campout fees.
b. Need recommendation.

B. Transportation

1. Caravan leaves at 7AM at A&P unless otherwise stated.
2. All crew members and adults must be in uniform while traveling to and from outing (Insurance reasons).
3. Must be at least 18 years of age to drive.
4. All drivers must maintain the proper level insurance.
5. We will use trucks only for traveling equipment- no passengers except in the cab.
6. We agree to enforce "reasonable travel speeds" and use only vehicles that are in "safe mechanical condition".
7. Seatbelts must be worn at all times.
8. If more than one vehicle is used to transport our group, we will establish rendezvous points at the start of each day.

IV. Fundraising

A. Follow laws of Boy Scouts of America (BSA).

1. No selling of alcohol.
2. No raffles.
3. No gambling.

B. Members who do not participate, do not benefit from earnings.
C. Earnings from fundraising will go into the individual accounts of the crew members and adults that participated at the fundraiser.

V. Accounts

A. Personal Accounts

1 . All divisional profits will be placed in the members account.

a. If a member drops from the crew his account status will be transferred to the crew account.

B. Crew Accounts

1. Dues will be placed in this account
2. Crew holds the decision on what this money is used towards.

VI. Rules of Conduct

A. No alcohol, drugs, or firearms
B. Pornography of any kind is not acceptable
C. No sheath knifes
D. No axes
E. No fireworks
F. No weapons (Bows, arrows, projectiles, etc.)
G. No laser pointers
H. No electronics (TV, stereo, games, etc.)

1. May be brought for travel, but left in vehicles at your own risk.

I. No P.D.A. (Public Displays of Affection)
J. No pets.
K. We will be certain that fires are attended to at all times.
L. We will at all times be a credit to the BSA and will not tolerate rowdysim or "unscoutlike"behavior.
M. We will maintain high standards of personal cleanliness and orderliness and will operate a clean and sanitary camp, leaving it in better condition than we found it.
N. We will not litter or bury any trash, garbage, or tin cans.
O. We will not deface trees, restrooms, or other objects with initials or writing.
P. We will respect the property of others and will not trespass.
Q. We will not cut standing trees or shrubs without specific permission from the landowner or manager.
R. We will, in case of backcountry expedition, read and abide by the Wilderness Use Policy of the BSA.

VII. Dress Code

A. Transportation

1. Polo crew shirt must be worn BSA green Venturing uniform to be worn

B. On outings (outside of vehicle)

1. Tastefully dressed (Show NO Skin, ex) Speedos, thongs, string bikinis).

C. Meetings

1. Crew uniform shirt or other BSA shirt.

D. Special Events

1. Class "A"uniform (official Venture uniform).
2. Khaki grey pants/shorts with grey socks and grey or brown belt.
3. Crew polo shirt may be worn if no official uniform is available.

*Changed to $10 a quarter (2-11-01), then $24 a year.
